Playas del Coco
The beautiful town of Playas Del Coco lies on the coast of the Pacific, nestled in the Gulf of Papagayo. Our school is right in the middle of town, making it easy for our students, parents, and friends to have access to our services.
We are located in the neighborhood called Barrio Los Canales. It is not known for being the most beautiful part of town, but we see it differently. In the wet season, the trees and the river are beautiful, along with the iguanas and other wildlife. It is a prime example of Costa Rican nature.
Even in the summertime, when the land is dry and the roads dusty, our little neighborhood still shines as a prime example of real Costa Rican living. The neighborhood is alive, and our place in it grows stronger year by year. Each year we bring in people to help spread knowledge about recycling and trash cleanup. We do annual trash collecting in the river and the neighborhood, further inspiring green activism locally.
All in all, we think our school is in the perfect spot. Nestled between the mountains and the beach, we are right in the middle of what Costa Ricans call the “Pura Vida.” We also get the chance to make a contribution to a neighborhood in need of a little help. We think this is much better than having a school made of concrete set among tall buildings in some big city. Here, we are truly blessed.
